74 MIPs issued during Welcome Weekend

As police forces worked together this weekend to keep the peace, 74 MIPs were issued from Thursday night to Sunday morning - the most of any Welcome Weekend in at least the last four out of five years.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department majority patrolled the "downtown" area of Main, Washington and University streets, issuing more than 80 liquor violations, including 43 MIPs.

According to reports from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, sophomore forward Trevor Mbakwe has informed Marquette that he is quitting the men's basketball team. Instead of returning to Milwaukee to begin the fall semester he has remained in his hometown of St. Paul, Minn.

Central finished No. 7 in the country at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, and four wrestlers finished in the national top 10, achieving All-America honors.

This was a nice town, they argue, and opening a Hooters will, in the words of one resident, ruin it.
